FAQs

I can provide telehealth to anyone in New York State. I also travel to do sessions in the client’s home or at some other pre-determined location in the Syracuse area and neighboring communities. I may travel further out of the Syracuse area for single event workshops or presentations.

Prior to your first appointment, we will have a brief 15 minute telephone consultation where you may share your reasons for seeking help, ask any questions you have, and we can begin to determine how I can help. I will then forward you some documents to review and complete in preparation for our first assessment appointment. All services are tailored to fit your individual needs.
I provide individual therapy sessions at the Syracuse Jewish Family Service office and over telehealth, and may be able to provide home visits.

All services are self-pay. Depending on your insurance, you may be able to submit a claim for out-of-network reimbursement for psychotherapy services. I can provide a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement.
Questions to ask your insurer:
• Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
• Will you cover LCAT’s (licensed creative arts therapists) for psychotherapy?
• How much is my deductible?
• How many visits per year are covered?
• What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
• Is approval required from my primary care physician?

However, due to being a mandated reporter there are some exceptions which include:
Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse. As a mandated reporter I am required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, I am required to notify the police.
If a client intends to harm themselves, I will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate or if there continues to be safety concerns, additional measures may need to be taken.

When we begin our work together, you will be asked to sign a policy agreement and consent forms. I require a minimum of 24 hours notice via telephone message, or email if you need to cancel. Failure to provide this notice will result in a full charge for the appointment.
